2009 IAOM Convention
PAST CONVENTIONS The Convention held in Florence was very successful with excellent speakers. You can view the handouts by going to www.sioh.org select "Continuing Education" and then "Archive or Cultural events".
CONVENTION FLORENCE, ITALY, JULY 2007
IAOM held a very exciting convention July12th through the 15th in Florence Italy. Attendees represented seventeen countries and almost all the continents including Australia. Regrettably, Chairperson Licia C. Paskay was hospitalized in Los Angles three days before the Convention convened. Dr. Stefano Garatti, Program Chairperson, assumed the remaining responsibilities and with the assistance of: Emily Clayton, Executive Coordinator, Debora Munoz, President and Sandra Coulson, Past-President, the plans for the Florence Convention were completed in a very professional manner.
Words can never express how immensely thankful we all were for all the help from volunteers. Efficient, reliable, flexible and inventive volunteers Giovanna Giacomin, Pasqualina Andretta, Mariuccia Franzoni, Anita Weinfield, Dianne Fonssagrives, Marsha Lee-White, Darlene Cooper-Perez, JoAnn Smithpeter, Sandra Boucher-Bessent, Kathy Winslow, Stephanie Schmidt, Joy Moeller, Barbara Greene, Sandra Pedersen, Pamela Armi, Roberta D'Avenia, Sara Bigagli, Sandra Groome and Susanna Waedt contributed to the success of the meeting Licia extends her personal thanks to: Rosy Garatti, Dr.Stefano Garatti’s adorable wife who facilitated logistics and assisted everybody on the team; Ralph Munoz who constantly assisted both his wife, Debbie and Dr. Garatti and Licia especially thanks her husband, Steve Paskay, who handled the transfer of all the items and information necessary for the success of the convention. Licia offers much thanks to all the spouses who worked so hard and helped so much. Courses presented by Niels Hulsink (Holland), Marinella Pedrinazzi (Italy) and Kimberly Benkert (USA) were well received. Our colleagues from Brazil stayed beyond the convention to share some of their exercises with the attendees. Thanks to Irene Marchesan, Lidia D’Agostino and Maria Coutinho, for sharing their expertise with us! Dr. Irene Marchesan, presenter and panelist has long been an advocate for OFM in South America. Dr. Mario Bondi, the "oldest" Italian member of the IAOM, received The Connie Painter Distinguished Service Award for his role in promoting Myofunctional Therapy in Italy and Europe. Dr. Aurelio Levrini was recognized for his role in promoting myofunctional therapy throughout Italy and Europe. Dr. Marvin Hanson, a founding member or IAOM, a strong exponent of OFM in the USA and South America was in attendance at the meeting.
