The International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) welcomes you to our home page.

What is the IAOM?
The IAOM is the international professional association for orofacial myologists. The IAOM provides information, resources, and support for professionals, families, and patients who seek information, guidance, research, and therapy services for orofacial myofunctional disorders.
The IAOM also provides certification and continuing education for those members who seek specialized recognition in the area of orofacial myofunctional disorders. Members can achieve certification status through testing procedures and by meeting specific clinical standards. A Directory of Membership includes all professionals who ascribe to the principles of the IAOM. Those members who have achieved certification in orofacial myology (designated as COM) are also identified in the Directory.
This website provides information about orofacial myofunctional disorders. It provides you with an opportunity to learn about these disorders and resulting consequences. We encourage you to visit the Frequently Asked Questions page to gain a better understanding of the importance of eliminating incorrect orofacial habits. We also encourage you to visit the Parents Page.
For information regarding membership and certification requirements, visit the Membership page.
A complete listing of the membership can be found in the Member Directory. Our members will be happy to answer all of your questions.
Who Are Myofunctional Therapists?
Orofacial myofunctional therapists have received specialty training to evaluate and treat a variety of myofunctional conditions and problems. Many orofacial myofunctional clinicians have additional professional training in speech-language pathology, dental hygiene, dentistry, or other health-related fields. All IAOM members adhere to a Scope of Practice that distinguishes their membership in the IAOM from other organizations.
